PAMEX 2010, the seventh edition of India’s internationally acclaimed exhibition of printing and allied machinery, will be held at the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi from January 19 to 22, 2010. PAMEX 2010 is an event of the Printers, for the Printers and by the Printers. It is supported by the Government of India, Dept. of Commerce and Industry and Govt. of NCT of Delhi. It is also supported by the industry - The Indian Newspaper Society (INS), All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP), Federation of Indian Publishers and others.
The event will showcase cutting edge technologies from worldwide solution providers, across categories from pre-press to post-press, and everything in-between. It will provide a platform for exhibitors to conduct business and interact with technology providers and buyers. Pamex 2010 will explore recent developments in the global printing industry. The country’s printing market, currently valued at US$12.1 billion, is projected to reach US$20.9 billion and expected to rise to the 8th position by 2011. Currently India is the12th largest print market in the world.
PAMEX 2010 will provide interactive sessions with technology providers and buyers, and a platform for special demonstrations of machinery and equipment. The Expo is specially planned for printers & print buyers, publishers, converters, corrugated box manufacturers, Production / Quality Control Managers from FMCG and retail sectors, Government agencies and associations, design houses and designers, graphic artists, ad agencies, and media production houses.
Pamex also provides the platform for the prestigious National Awards for Excellence in Printing, and a high level Print Summit India, a conference on Future of Print. With the support of 58 print industry affiliate associations and over 2, 50,000 members from all over India, PAMEX 2010 is expected to attract quality footfalls from India and neighboring countries with over 300 focused exhibitors including ancillary suppliers spread over 15000 sq meters and over 40,000 visitors gracing the occasion. The Pamex expo is the premier annual event for the printing industry.
The Indian Print Industry
The printing industry has thrown up demands for latest technologies, having undergone transfiguration from sheet fed printing, to web printing, from low speed to high speed, B&W to colour. The publishing sector has already established itself in the export market through “type setting”. However, new technologies are emerging worldwide, especially digitization. Standards are being developed for digitizing newspapers, forms and books. The potential for expansion is immense. Industry experts indicate that the present level, of book printing exports is low and major percentage is accounted by stationery and converting sector.
Highly Capital intensive with 120,000 or so, printing presses and 200 daily newspapers and thousands of periodicals, journals and language publications, the printing industry has thrown up demands for nextgen technologies. India needs to establish standards in digitization and introduce the new technologies which have been developed worldwide to meet the immense potential of this industry.
The ink/s market is estimated to be US$356 million and is projected to grow by 78% and by 2011. The substrates market is pegged at US$4000 million and has a phenomenal growth projection of 72% by 2011 and the market would thus be close to US$7000 million. The other consumables market which today stands at US$155 million is also expected to witness tremendous growth of almost 70% (All figures are gathered from industry sources and are approximate rounded values).
