Jan. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- In a review published today, Televisions.com examines in detail the performance of the Grundig Vision 7 42-7970 T. Combining laboratory measurements with subjective analysis of picture quality, the website’s team of experienced reviewers derived an overall rating of 6.9 out of 10 points for the Grundig. The review lists positives including user-friendliness, excellent colours, and decent built-in speakers. These features, the reviewer explains, make the TV ideal for everyday TV viewing. But minus points are awarded for the screen’s low contrast and problems with 24p reproduction — Televisions.com therefore warns home-cinema users to steer clear. Still they explain that users will find a lot of great features. For example, the review praises the TV’s multimedia capabilities — playback of DivX, JPEG, and MP3 files via USB. The Grundig’s operation also earns admiration from the reviewers, who were especially pleased with the clear menu layout and ergonomic remote-control design. Indeed, the review describes the remote control as exemplary, noting the “question-mark button” as one of the handset’s highlights: “Pressing the question-mark button displays a picture of the handset. The user can then read explanations of the remote’s various functions by pressing the relevant button.”

It’s when the review turns its attention to the Grundig’s picture that the criticism starts to creep in. Though the reviewer praises the TV pictures, they go on to point out flaws in the set’s reproduction of 576i signals, as well as judder in 24p Blu-ray movies. The Grundig’s colours get a good write-up overall, but its black levels failed to impress Televisions.com. The site’s head tester and editor-in-chief, Florian Friedrich, summarised the Grundig Vision 7 42-7970 T’s performance: “If you’re looking for a cheap, attractive, and bright LCD TV for everyday use, this Grundig fits the bill nicely, but it’s not ideal for the home theatre”.
