Raleigh, N.C. - Cosmetic and family dentist Dr. Ashley Mann announces the use of new technology that offers increased accuracy, patient comfort and cost savings with digital imaging.
The new technology is iTero, an advanced digital imaging system that uses cadcam (computer aided design) technology to take high accuracy images of teeth and turn them into 3-D digital models.
Dr. Mann's office already uses digital imaging with Cerec, a one-visit onlay and crown technology. Now they are now able to produce “mess-free”
The old technology for modeling teeth involved making the patient “bite” into a “goop” filled metal rim plate. They had to sit still with the large form in their open mouth for the time it took for the “goop” to cure. From that a stone impression was made that did not last as long and wasn't as accurate.
Certain patients would experience anxiety and acute discomfort from the “gag reflex”, a reflex that is associated with choking because of the large object in the mouth. iTero’s digital wand for photographing and modeling doesn’t trigger the “gag reflex.”
3G iPhone games, war strategy game, credit card
This new technology increases the accuracy of the results. It allows for immediate distribution to the appropriate lab for the work needed where the lab can then prepare the treatment parts like teeth, bridges and headgear. The finished part(s) are shipped back to the office with time and cost savings.
