America’s tallest cut Christmas tree will get a second lease on life when the M Resort Spa Casino’s 109-foot white fir is recycled as part of the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department’s Christmas Tree Recycling Program. It will be the last—and largest -- of more than 2,000 Christmas trees recycled through the city’s program this season.

Recycling will take place at the M Resort, located at 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South in Henderson, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Moving the tree, chipping, mulching, and removal will be handled by the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with First Choice Tree Service and Federal Heath Sign Company – both companies are donating services for this project.

“This amazing tree, which has been enjoyed by thousands of people this holiday season, is now getting a second lease on life through recycling,” said Dominick Casey, assistant director, City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department. “The tree will be cut and its branches put through a chipper to be turned into mulch, which will be used in landscaping throughout the City of Henderson’s 50 parks. The tree might have gone to the landfill if it were not for the environmentally-conscious team over at the M Resort. They are taking the lead by incorporating sustainability and environmentally-friendly practices that are right in line with Henderson’s city-wide sustainability efforts.”

The tree, which weighs 22,000 pounds, has been on display in the M Resort’s piazza since the beginning of December, decorated with thousands of lights and colorful ornaments.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the City of Henderson. It’s important for us to support our community, and I can’t think of a better way for our tree be used than in the city’s parks,” said Anthony A. Marnell III, chairman and CEO of the M Resort.
