PRLog (Press Release) - Jan 11, 2010 -
Kerala tourism saw new heights when it was rated the world’s 23rd best tourist destination by the National Geographic Center for Sustainable Destinations.

There are a lot of things happening in Kerala which contribute to presenting this Southern state of India the rating. The State’s tourism is flying high. There was a string of road shows which the tourism ministry held all over Europe as a part of the campaign to promote tourism in the State. The next round of road shows will be held in Italy, France and Australia.

The state continues its efforts by bringing home luxury in the form of sea cruises by leading online travel portals like http://www.karmakerala.com. Thejal Vasudevan, Director, Karma Kerala.com says “Tourism in Kerala has more than one reason to smile. Bad days of global recession and the Thekkady boat tragedy have fallen behind and tourism in the state is treading rather unconventional methods. We here at Karma Kerala are making full use of the opportunity in tapping the market by introducing Louis Group sea cruises  packages” Luxury sea cruise are the latest entrants into the travel market in Kerala and are intended for the domestic market. “Luxury cruises may have been considered too expensive in Kerala, but then it has happened”, added Thejal Vasudevan

It is quite obvious that the state’s tourism industry which has seen a constant growth over the past few years have been given a fillip with sea cruises setting out from this part of the coastline.

2008 saw tourist arrivals in the state grow by 14.41 percent. This year, the government, tour operators, hotel industry and others in the loop are working very hard and hand in hand to give this figure an impetus. This rating from the National Geographic has had a positive effect on the sea cruise tourism the state is aiming for, at the present.
