First Annual Publetariat Author Workshop Cruise Sails 10/10/10
Publetariat, the premier online news hub and community for indie authors and small imprints, has slated its first annual Stem-to-Stern Author Workshop cruise to take place from October 10-17, 2010.
The weeklong Mexican Riviera cruise features 4, 3-hour intensive workshops covering the nuts and bolts of self-publishing and author platform/book promotion, as well as a one-on-one, 45-minute consulting session with a workshop presenter for each attendee, and several social mixers. All workshop activities and mixers are scheduled for at-sea days, so attendees will be free to go ashore for sightseeing and activities on their own on in-port days in Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta.
Publetariat founder and Editor in Chief April L. Hamilton, author of The IndieAuthor Guide (to be released in a revised/updated edition by Writer’s Digest Books this fall), will lead the workshop on self-publishing in Print on Demand formats. The workshop on formatting and publishing for the Kindle will be taught by Ebook Architects founder Joshua Tallent, author of Kindle Formatting. Medialoper’s Kirk Biglione and Booksquare’s Kassia Krozser will co-lead a workshop on author platform and social media for authors. Author Bootcamp instructor Seth Harwood, who is also the author of the Random House novel Jack Wakes Up and a creative writing instructor at Stanford University, will teach a workshop on podcasting for authors.
Event sponsors include Writer’s Digest, Smashwords and Everpub. In addition to premiums provided by these sponsors and workshop leaders, each attendee will receive a free, 12-month enrollment in the curriculum of his or her choice on Publetariat sister site Vault University.
