Jan. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Going to college is expensive, but free scholarship money can greatly lighten the load. Scholarships can pay for one, more, or even all aspects of college education. One common type of scholarship is the “merit” variety. These pay educational expenses for students who have good grades. Sometimes, these are limited to classes in the subjects of interest to the benefactor; others will pay for any subject. Some of these will also pay for things like textbooks or even dorm expenses instead of just tuition.

Hector Milla Editor of the "Free Scholarships And Grants" website -- http://www.FreeScholarshipsAndGrants.org/free-online-scholarships-money -- pointed out;

“…Athletic scholarships are one unique type of educational grant. They reward good athletes, but actually pay for tuition and class expenses rather than just sport expenses. These grants also often cover living expenses, as well. These are often offered by universities who want to lure better athletes to their schools…”

Other scholarships are meant to favor particular groups. Requirements for these can be as general as requiring the applicant to be of a specific ethnicity, while others are very specific. Examples of ultra-specific group-based scholarships include those for graduates from a particular high school, or even members of a certain club in the high school.

“…One unique way to get free scholarship money is from a scholarship site. There are sites that offer this money as a contest prize. Entry only requires a real email address, and winners are chosen on a monthly basis. The best thing about these scholarships, other than the fact that they’re free, is that they don’t have any special requirements. Entrants need not be A+ students, athletes, or come from any particular background. Therefore, those planning to enter a college or university should consider this option, especially if they don’t qualify for one of the traditional varieties of scholarships or educational grants…” added H. Milla.
