“I haven’t felt this kind of excitement since the 90’s” beams Dr. Gary S. Goodman, telemarketing’
Goodman is a top keynote, seminar and convention speaker, Fortune 1000 consultant, and a five-star radio and TV commentator, and is in a unique position to make his bold prediction.
“Telemarketing has been eclipsed by the Internet, and ravaged by automation, outsourcing, off-shoring, and by a reputation for shadiness and consumer fraud,” he says. “But now, that’s all behind us, and it’s the perfect time to reach out and sell someone.”
He cites three reasons: (1) The Internet has changed business in profound ways, but it hasn’t replicated or improved upon the telephone’s personal touch; (2) The phone is by far the cheapest way to have a real-time, meaningful sales conversation, costing pennies per minute, and saving fuel as well as costly commuting and travel expenses; and (3) The entire idea of waiting for business to magically come to us, instead of reaching out, is being discredited.
To the last point, he is especially raspy.
“The Internet has been anything but field of dreams, especially for smaller companies that have built sites and no one came,” he muses. “The idea of waiting for people to discover us instead of actively introducing ourselves has been especially wasteful,” he observes.
Goodman plans to offer updated seminars and corporate training that will combine strategic voice mail, email, and real-time guided web browsing, with live calls. His web site is: www.customersatisfaction.com and he can be reached at: gary@customersatisfaction.com.
