“Midlife is a time of change,” says Eggers, “with many women in midlife asking themselves ‘Who am I?’ ‘What’s next for me?’ And because change is difficult, frequently these midlife women are reluctant to answer those questions, and live the lives they were created to live.”
Eggers herself is well-acquainted with change at midlife. In December 2005 she lost her husband of 27 years (and high school sweetheart), the Rev. Dr. Steve Eggers to Stage IV colon cancer. Eggers writes about their 2-1/2 year cancer battle in her book Dying Body, Growing Faith.
