Jan. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- “As a community we are able to join together to make a sizable donation to a program that is so important,” said Handler. “Many of our sub-contractors have ties to Komen.  Our connection is my wife Chris, whose mother lost her battle to breast cancer when Chris was only 4 years old. So obviously we are passionate about helping the Komen organization.”

Handler has committed to working with his subcontractors to reduce the costs of the home. “By reducing their bid for the job slightly and requesting discounts from suppliers, we can beat the budget significantly,” said Handler. “Every dollar reduced from their bid will go directly to Build for the Cure.”
Executive Director Anita Holmes of the Komen South Florida Affiliate added, “The South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is very pleased to partner with Dreamstar Custom Homes on a most unique fundraising effort. ‘Build for the Cure’ has the potential to raise substantial funds for the many programs in our service area. It also will afford us the opportunity to attract additional community support that will help to expand our database of supporters and attract new volunteers to our organization. This is a very creative project and it is an honor to be affiliated with such a prestigious builder.”

Handler also would like the public to have an opportunity to participate at a grass roots level. Those interested can buy a brick for just $10 by donating though the Web site, www.BuildForTheCure.org.
“William and Lisa Byrnes, who purchased the home, have so kindly permitted Dreamstar Custom Homes to dedicate their future residence as the 2010 Build for the Cure benefit home,” Handler said. “The  Byrnes are repeat clients for Dreamstar and are tickled pink with the idea that monies generated from the sub and suppliers of their home will directly benefit the local Komen organization. In addition to donating the use of their home for charity, they have taken the initiative to build ‘green,’ therefore creating a lighter footprint on our environment.”

Handler recently started construction on the 6,187 square foot house, located on Bent Creek at Bay Pointe in Ibis Golf and Country Club, a high-end luxury community in West Palm Beach. This elegant Tuscany-style custom built home will feature designer finishes throughout and will include many energy efficient features that Handler, a Certified Green Professional, has adopted as a philosophy. The one-story home will include three bedrooms, four baths, an office, living, dining and family rooms, a gourmet kitchen and a wine cellar and bar. Being situated with a view of the lake and three fairways makes this home even more appealing.

The expected completion is mid-summer 2010, at which time a kick-off event will be held featuring tours, appetizers, drinks, a silent auction and raffle. Tickets will be sold for additional tours on subsequent weekends. All proceeds will benefit The South Florida Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
