Hagerstown, Maryland: Wright-
Gardner's own, Blakeley Jackson, took two years to write a book about her own personal journey when faced with a Dad that was sent to Iraq. She had a hard time explaining to her children why he was leaving and couldn't find any resources to help her that were not focused on war and fighting.
So since she couldn't find a book, she decided to write one of her own. Her book has examples that parents can follow and engage their children in to show the missing parent they still care. One of her examples deals with a little boy who sets up a calendar, that not only counts down the days until his parent returns but encouraged him to write in the calendar space what he did every day so he could share this when his dad came home.
