Car Insurance – Drivers Urged to Cut Speed to Reduce Claims
Arctic temperatures are continuing to hit the whole of the United Kingdom hard, with temperatures remaining well below freezing during the daytime.
Nevertheless, many drivers still do not appear to be heeding the warnings about the icy motorways. One driver was clocked speeding at 90mph in Dunblane, Scotland, while another was caught speeding 76mph in a 60mph zone in Stirlingshire, Scotland.

Drivers should be aware that braking and stopping distances are increased ten-fold with snow and ice on the motorways. The Highways Agency has urged drivers to cull their speed to allow more time to brake and stop safely.
Traffic Officer Eris Robertson said: “We see a lot of collisions that are caused by people not braking in time when the roads are wet or slippery.
"If it's foggy, raining, snowing or icy, make sure you slow down and keep well back from the vehicle in front of you."
