ATLANTA, Georgia -- Feed Your Faith, a nonprofit group based in Knoxville, Tenn. that brings Christian speakers, authors and performing artists to raise money for those in need, has announced its LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour will be in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church. The LOVE WORTH FIGHTING FOR tour features actor, writer and evangelist Kirk Cameron and singer/songwriter Warren Barfield (“Love Is Not A Fight” from the FIREPROOF movie starring Kirk Cameron).
This event has two sessions – an afternoon matinee session beginning at 1 p.m. and an evening session beginning at 7 p.m. In 2009, this event was attended by nearly 9,000 people in Knoxville, Tennessee and tickets sold out almost six months early. Following the success of his 1980s hit television show, Growing Pains, Kirk Cameron married actress Chelsea Noble and started a family. Today the father of six is an outspoken believer and has starred in the Left Behind movie series as well as the widely acclaimed movie Fireproof that was released in theaters nationwide last year.
North Carolina-born singer/songwriter Warren Barfield is on a mission to make the truly important things important again in his life. Things like faith, love, marriage, children, truth, and with his songs, he challenges us all to do the same. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "If a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live." Warren has found those things in his faith, his wife, and his belief in love. "These are the things I would die for; things I will wake up every morning and spend my day fighting for," Barfield said.
For the past four years, Feed Your Faith has sponsored the best and brightest Christian speakers, authors and performing artists to “feed” the faithful while raising tens of thousands of dollars to feed those who are in need.
A few years ago, Mike Williams – a Blount County resident with a heart for people who are struggling – started Feed Your Faith. Rick Laney joined him as Feed Your Faith’s marketing and promotions director three years ago. The Feed Your Faith concept was simple; bring in Christian speakers, authors, singers and music groups to help Christians grow in their faith and, at the same time, raise money for those who are less fortunate. Unlike some nonprofit and charity groups, Feed Your Faith has virtually no overhead expenses – so once the cost of bringing the event to town is covered, proceeds go directly to local charities.
To date, Feed Your Faith has worked with nationally known writers and music groups including Lee Strobel (former legal editor of the Chicago Tribune and author of The Case for Christ), author Mark Middleberg, DecembeRadio, Decyfer Down and Sanctus Real (Dove Award winning Christian Rock and Alternative band), needtobreath and Sarah Reeves.
