Five thousand years ago, the people of India were far different from those of today. Their genetic origin was from the migration of early man from Africa. The influx of new genes from invasions, wars, civil unrests and religious conversions shaped India’s genetic heritage. Invasions from Central Asia, Afghanistan, Arabia, Iran, Greece, Britain, France, and Portugal repeatedly broke down the caste system, and introduced an inflow of new genes into India’s population, irrespective of the caste or religion.
Ahloowalia’s book introduces the reader to what genes are and how they are inherited to create a population of people. Meticulously researched, Invasion of the Genes is the result of a lifetime of education, experience, and observations of a biologist and geneticist.
