Jan. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- It may have taken a while but Boston-based singer-songwriter Howie Newman (www.howienewman.com) finally put together a full-length album – and it was certainly worth the wait. “Trust Me, You’ll Like It,” a 13-track CD with full band arrangements, is not only funny and upbeat but also a musical treat.

“Trust Me” features a host of top-notch musicians, a wide variety of arrangements and first-rate production. Backing Newman (acoustic guitar, vocals, harmonica) are some of the top names in the local music circuit, including Duke Levine (Mary Chapin Carpenter, Aimee Mann), Billy Novick (New Black Eagle Jazz Band) and Jim Gambino (Swinging Steaks).

This lively collection, which also includes four “serious” tunes, spans folk, rock, bluegrass, jazz, swing, country and just about everything in between.

“All the songs are well put together with great music and cleverly written lyrics that bring them to life,” writes C.W. Ross in the Indie Music Stop.

The subject matter is just as diverse as the music. Newman takes a whimsical look at cell phones, the weather, Boston drivers, not-so-graceful aging and rock stardom. For sports fans, there are memoirs of an aging softball fanatic (“Weekend Warrior”) and an ode to Doug Mientkiewicz. He even dabbles in love and relationships, examining middle age dating, daydreaming and unfinished business.

Tom Petersen of the Victory Review notes that “whimsical Boston troubadour Howie Newman is a scream, particularly if you are 40-something. He has a special talent for expressing those things that we often think but rarely discuss or are too polite to bring up.”

Howie Newman tours throughout New England as a solo acoustic act. In addition to playing his comedic music, he does short comedy bits and is very big on audience participation. “It’s a very interactive show,” explains Newman.

He has released four CDs, including “Baseball’s Greatest Hits, Volumes 1 and 2”, both of which can be found in the National Baseball Hall of Fame Archive.
