Jan. 7, 2010 - PRLog -- Adding to an extensive list of wood veneer species, Oakwood Veneer announced today that Lemonwood Veneer would be included in the lineup.

"Everyone is looking for a little color," said Peter Rodgers, Oakwood's owner, "and Lemonwood is a very nice shade of light yellow that can lighten up any furniture, cabinetry, or display piece that it is used on."

Technically, Lemonwood is a misnomer, as the species does not come from true lemon trees. The real name is Degame Veneer, which is a term that is also known and used. However, in the United States, more people use Lemonwood. Degame trees grow in Central America and the tropical regions of South America. The species sometimes varies in color from white to light brown, but the vast majority of pieces, and all of the sheets that Oakwood sells, are the typical light yellow color.

Lemonwood is rare and hard to find, and most often not available as a veneer. It is also not widely available as a lumber, although it is very popular as a material for hunting bows, as well as carving projects and billiard cues.

With over 250 species, Oakwood prides itself on having one of the most, if not the most, extensive species lists for backed wood veneer in the country.

"Some companies have a long list of items and a large percentage are not in stock at any given time," said Rodgers. "Oakwood has almost 100% of our price list items in stock daily, including our new Lemonwood Veneer species."
