Tutors International, a prestigious private tutoring agency, has announced that a substantial private tutoring contract with an Oxbridge student has been cancelled due to concerns that the student in question was cheating. "It was a very uncomfortable situation, but I am very grateful to the tutor involved for reporting this to us," commented Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International. "We're often approached by families to help undergraduate students at university, especially for those who are struggling to cope with the transition from A-level to undergraduate level education. However, in this case it was apparent that the student in question was obtaining rough drafts of their dissertation from a third party and became incredibly defensive when the tutor asked to see notes and source materials in order to discuss the topic."
"There is often a grey area when it comes to how much private tutors help school-age students, especially when a tutor needs to help a child out of a downward spiral of failure," Adam explained. "But it is a different matter altogether when it comes to helping university undergraduates, especially those in their third year who are often at the end of their education. Whilst we are happy to help a student organise their thoughts and present them in the best way possible, they have to do the hard work of drafting the dissertation themselves.
