Arktan Enhances Tweets with Videos, Photos and Meta Information

Jan. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- Arktan, http://www.arktan.com, the social media aggregation, sharing and curation startup based in San Francisco, launched the support for displaying meta information with Tweets. The support pushes the envelope by supporting a wide array of services and uses cases.

The meta information is displayed along with Tweets on Arktan, increasing the value and user experience associated with viewing Tweets. This is all the more significant given how Twitter is increasingly becoming the hub for distributing links to photos, videos, maps etc. Arktan's current support is fairly comprehensive and will be enhanced over time. Here are a few examples of Arktan's new feature support.

If a Tweet contains a link to a YouTube video, the video is displayed inline. For example here is a link to a Tweet by Robert Scoble with a YouTube video:

The new feature also expands most short URLs in a Tweet. Most short URLs in a Tweet. The expanded/Long URL is displayed along with the Tweet to provide greater context. For example here is Louis Gray's Tweet with a long URL.

If a Tweet contains a FourSquare link, the FourSquare check-in address and map is displayed inline. For example here is a link to a Tweet by Sam Winsier  with a Foursquare map.

If a Tweet contains a link to a TwitPic photo, the photo is displayed inline. For example here is a link to a Tweet with a Twitcpic photo by Mark Krynsky.
