Chester County Velo and Hotfoot Cycles/Iron Hill Race Team Presents Donation at Holiday Gathering

CHEYNEY, PA (Jan. 6, 2009) — Cheyney University’s “Winter Wonderland” holiday gathering, hosted by President Michelle Howard-Vital and Geri Vital, brought community leaders and friends of the university to campus; as well as, faculty, staff and administration.

Some of the special guests included representatives from the Chester County Velo and Hotfoot Cycles/Iron Hill Race Team.  Rick Steele, one of the team leaders for the group presented a $1,000 check donation to the University for the Intramural Sports Program.

The donation was made possible from proceeds they raised during last summer’s Cheyney Challenge, which was held in conjunction with the University’s Community Day event.

This is the second year the group has made a donation as a thank you to the University and students for their assistance and cooperation during their annual race.

The bike race is sanctioned by the United States Cycling Federation (USCF.)

This holiday gathering event was held on Thursday, December 10th, and guests enjoyed food and fellowship in the Great Room of Carnegie Hall which is located on the historic quadrangle.

With holiday jingles playing in the background, a festive décor complete with tree and lit fireplaces ignited the holiday spirit. There were buffet-style hors d'oeuvres, which included a food sculpture of a Santa Claus wearing his CU knitted winter hat.

Special guests, that included Cheyney University Foundation members, mingled while admiring the elaborate art collection that was donated by Cheyney University alumnus, Mercer Redcross, and hangs prominently on display in Carnegie Hall.

President Vital and Mr. Vital both thank all who attended the fun event and hope to see them return for future events.
