Canada’s Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff Has Trouble Connecting With The Ukrainian Community

A recently published article “Michael Ignatieff Offends Ukrainians” makes a straight forward and compelling expose of the Liberal Party Leader’s gaffes with the Ukrainian community in Canada. From beginning to end, a systematic effort is made to chronologically document the whole Ukrainian-Ignatieff mess in its proper context. The reader learns how and where it all started, and why the Liberal Leader’s character and integrity comes into question.  No one should vote for Ignatieff until they read what is in this article.  

Canadian citizens will come to know more about Ignatieff than Wikipedia cares to offer about the Liberal Leader. Ihor Cap, the author of this article, explains that Dr. Ignatieff does not even acknowledge his great grandfather’s involvement in fomenting the anti-Jewish pogroms in Russian-occupied Ukraine.  “Rounding up all the Jews” was necessary “to protect them from [an] outraged peasantry,” said Dr. Ignatieff, the Harvard-educated historian.  But back then, Tsarist Russia’s “Count Ignatieff was taken to task for trying to hide his involvement… in order to extort blackmail from the wealthier Jews. “The Father of Lies” they christened him”, as one New York Times reporter described the situation back in October 26 of 1891, says Ihor Cap in his article.  

There “…is just too much residual baggage that Dr. Ignatieff brought back with him when he re-entered Canada to enter the political arena. His baggage is full of old belongings that have no place in the New World. There is a chance that Dr. Ignatieff will do the right thing before election time and that is to issue a public apology to Ukrainians across this great country of ours. It still might not get him the votes he wants, but if he has any redeeming qualities, this is the time to show them. Canada has had many a great Liberal Leader. Michael Ignatieff will not be one of them.“ concludes Ihor Cap.
