New Year's Resolutions - Improve the Odds You'll Succeed with Voice Mapping Biofeedback

How can people be more successful at keeping their New Year’s resolutions? Voice mapping biofeedback can help clients release the unconscious programming and behavioral patterns that sabotage their will to overcome bad habits.

Jan. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- A client asked me if she could have an appointment on New Year’s Day. In the session, she remarked that she never, ever was able to keep to an exercise plan, that she believed exercising wouldn’t work and why should she even pretend to make the effort?

We often joke about how bad we are at keeping our New Year’s resolutions. However, our skepticism is supported by research.  According to Professor John C. Norcross of the University of Scranton, http://www.woai.com/guides/holiday/story/Will-you-keep-New-Years-resolutions-Most-people/VVSIkrlSw0O_b-h4QmaPqQ.cspx, six months into the year, only 46 percent of those who make New Year's resolutions have fulfilled them. When it comes to new resolutions regarding actually going to the gym and exercising, Esther Gonzales,  wellness director at ClubSport in Fremont, California, http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4176/is_20070103/ai_n17091380/, reduces that number to 10 percent in a good year.

Why is it so hard to for so many of us to do something that we know will be good for us? Voice mapping addresses this question by helping clients uncover their subconscious collusion with self- sabotaging behaviors.

For example, if you grew up constantly bombarded with criticism, you may have become self-critical. This reaction becomes consistent. Your internal self-talk becomes negative instead of nurturing. Over time, your sense of self-esteem is badly damaged and you may believe you are not worth the effort it will take to achieve your resolutions, or that you are not actually good enough to maintain the discipline it would take to reach your goals.

Voice mapping uses the frequencies in a client's voice to do a voice stress analysis that reveals the nature of stored memory that is the basis of such negative self-talk. The voice mapping software analyzes the client's voice while the client is describing his or her problems. Specifically, the software is identifying audio frequencies missing from the client's voice. Missing frequencies are a consequence of stored stress and trauma.

Using a biofeedback process, those missing frequencies are played back to the client. The result is that the connection between the stored memory and the client's subconscious seems to be erased, effectively eliminating the manipulative effect of the negative self-talk. As the self-talk and related subconscious chatter ceases, not only is the client freed of its insidious impact, but, now they have more energy and resources available to handle the current challenges in their lives.

My New Year’s Day client spoke into the voice mapping microphone, describing her multi-year losing battle with weight loss. Then I left the room, giving her privacy as she meditated on her situation for several minutes while the relevant frequencies were being played back to her. When I returned, she had her answer.

“I just realized why I keep the weight. I have been alone and independent for over fifteen years. In every one of my relationships, I had to give up my independence in order to keep the relationship going – obviously they all failed anyway. Now I get it that my fat keeps the men away and allows me to live my life without making compromises. That is not the best way to handle this challenge – now that I understand this, I know what to do to enter a relationship on my own terms without sacrificing my sense of self.” The client then announced that she was feeling energetic and wanted to go exercise immediately after the session.

This is one example of how voice mapping may help you replace destructive habits with healthy ones. Each of us has experienced life in a unique way; our behaviors are infinitely complex and mysterious, so each client has their own particular results and outcomes from a voice mapping session.

Many clients have reported that voice mapping has helped them release their unconscious self-sabotaging behaviors. Whatever your history regarding your success or failure at keeping New Year’s promises, voice mapping can help you increase the odds of achieving your goals.
