2010 New Year Prep Classic Men's Basketball Tournament

Charlotte, NC-Queen City Preparatory Academy and Garner Road Family YMCA hosts the 2nd Annual New Year Prep Classic Men's Basketball Tournament this weekend, January 8-10, 2010 in Raleigh, NC at the Garner Road YMCA. This event is expected to draw college coaches from all over the country as some of the top ranked players in the country will be competing in this national tournament which showcases basketball talent at the post-graduate and high school levels.  Teams that will be participating in this tournament include:

Queen City Prep Academy - Charlotte, NC
Faith Academy- Raleigh, NC
Carolina Prep Academy - Raleigh, NC
Southern Carolina Prep Academy - Charlotte, NC
Heat Basketball Academy - Martinsville, VA
Edison Prep Academy - Newark, NJ
Covenant Christian Academy - Atlanta, GA
Future Academy - Greensboro, NC
Rise Academy - Newark, NJ
Stevens Prep - Charlotte, NC
American International - Asheville, NC    
Mack Academy - Charlotte, NC

Some of the stand-out players in this tournament include:

From Queen City Preparatory Academy:  Aamir Kelliehan is a 6'2 shooting guard making big noise this year in the prep school circuit.  He is one of the top shooting guards in the country.  Jerome Hunter is a 6'10 forward and is ranked #87 in the country by ESPN.com.  Darius Davis is a 6'11 center and is ranked #83 in the country by ESPN.com.  Twin brother, 6'10 center Dejwan Davis has signed with the University of South Carolina-Aiken for the 2010 season.

Southern Carolina Prep has two 6'9 players, Gregory Sanders and Jeremy White.  Rodrecus Moore is a 6'2 shooting guard, another player to watch.

American International with legendary head coach John Jordan will feature 6'8 Gianni Stavrianidis and 7'5 Marko Mercetic.

Covenant Christian should be a threat with two 6'10 players, Emmanuel Evechinonso and Wuor Gatkouth and at the guard position, Travis Betran.
