Jan. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- Ruaha National Park offers a Tanzania safari experience of unparalleled excitement.  At 10,300 square kilometers it is second only to the vast Serengeti in size and home to one of Africa’s largest herd of elephants. Located in central Tanzania, Ruaha is more remote than other Tanzanian parks making it an unspoiled safari-goers dream vacation.

One of Tanzania’s least visited parks Ruaha National Park is home to an abundance of wild game and birds.  One of Africa’s largest herds of elephants roams the grasslands. Leopards and lions abound.  The Kingfisher and White Stork are among the approximate 475 species of birds which can be spotted there.

Part of the park is bordered by the Great Ruaha River and other rivers meander through the wild terrain.  The massive Baobab trees, unique to this region, fascinate even the seasoned traveler. The singular beauty of the expansive Isunkavyola Plateau lies in the southern part of the park.

Because of the ruggedness and vastness of the land, a Ruaha National Park safari is more traditional then most.  It is an unforgettable experience.

Selous Game Preserve in southeast Tanzania is Africa’s largest game preserve.  At 50,000 square kilometers the diversity of animals and terrain is almost unimaginable.

Topography includes vast delta wetlands where the Rufigi River and the Great Ruaha River converge.  The resulting system of waterways provides an ideal condition for sighting hippo’s and crocodiles from a boat. Here, the ardent photographer can snap some of the world’s most dangerous creatures close-up.

Hiking safaris are popular in the rugged Selous Game Preserve, as are air trips to the interior of this enormous wilderness.

The rare black rhino, an endangered species, flourishes in the Selous as well as a variety of other large game.  There is also an amazing array of Southern and Eastern African birds.

The two safaris outlined here are among the many offered by Real Africa Safaris.  A Tanzania safari can be tailored to fit the novice traveler or the veteran safari-goer. Personal cooks are included in all safari packages and accommodations range from comfortable camping expeditions to luxury lodges with a swimming pool.

In many instances transportation from each night’s camp or lodge to the next location is accomplished by air. Land travel is by guide driven open roofed Land Rover Cruisers. Safari in Tanzania is truly the trip of a lifetime.
