Follow on Google News | Community theatre spotlighted in "Theatre Geeks" podcastCommunity theatre-oriented podcast "Theatre Geeks" launched.
The podcast is the brainchild of Dave Dufour, a theatre geek who felt the community theatre niche was not being addressed by any current podcasts. After realizing that, among numerous theatre-related podcasts available, none focused on the special challenges and rewards of community theatre, he asked Shoup and Fulmer to help create Theatre Geeks. Dufour, Fulmer and Shoup combine many years of experience performing, directing and producing award-winning plays with their home troupe, Elkhart Civic Theatre in Northern Indiana. For all three, it's been a life-long passion. John Shoup is currently Elkhart Civic Theatre's artistic and technical director, and the lone "full-time pro" on the panel. Shoup is an accomplished actor and director, as well as an award-winning scenic designer. Marcia Fulmer brings many years as entertainment editor for the Elkhart Truth to "Theatre Geeks", as well as to her blog, "Marcia Marcia Marcia" (www.marciamarciamarcia.net) Dufour is a marketing communications consultant who is also an award-winning actor and director. He is also a speaker and presenter, occasionally producing "business theatre" for corporate and other groups. He produces "Theatre Geeks", the accompanying website and another podcast, "Creative License", which is also available via iTunes. Currently there are three episodes of "Theatre Geeks" in the podcast feed, with more to come after the holiday season. Episode 1: Mistakes Directors Make Episode 2: The Unknown Play Problem Episode 3: It's NOT All About You For more information, visit http://www.theatregeeks.com. End
