Jan. 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Lakeside Pottery a Ceramic School and Studio is now affiliated with the Stamford museum and Nature Center where they offer pottery, sculpting and ceramic programs to their member using Lakeside Pottery’s facility and staff.

Stamford Museum and Nature Center is located on 39 Scofieldtown Rd, Stamford, CT 06903. It has 118 woodland acres; includes New England working farm, hiking trails, picnic area, Nature’s playground, boardwalk (accessible to wheelchairs) and museum galleries.

Lakeside Pottery is a ceramic art educational resource for the community who seek to inspire creativity, foster self-discovery, and nurture an appreciation for lifelong learning through programs, special events and access to studio and gallery.

Lakeside Pottery is owned and managed by the husband and wife team of Patty Storms and Morty Bachar.

Brief business history: Since the Newfield Avenue Studio opened it's doors in Feb 26 2002, there have been over 4,500 enrollments to date for classes, workshops, summer camp, corporate team building activities, birthday party events, sculpting seminars, teacher development and training courses and consulting services for other studios and schools. Lakeside Pottery offers open studio, free pottery workshops to the public. Lakeside Pottery is affiliated with several organizations in Southern Connecticut (Stamford Nature Center, Darien and Stamford Continuing Education) where they offer programs to their communities at our studio.

Learn the art of decorative and functional pottery, using the potter’s wheel and ceramic sculpting, in a professional, spacious and well lit studio centrally located in Stamford, CT.

Activities include group classes, private lessons, teacher’s professional development, after school programs and summer camp. Open Studio time can be purchased for independent work. Custom programs, birthday party events for both, children or adults, corporate team building workshops and gift certificates are also offered.

ABOUT CLAY
Clay is an extraordinarily tactile, honest and alluring medium; an ideal vehicle through which to explore, express and discover ones creative inner world. Working with clay is also an excellent tool for exploring fears, attitudes, thoughts and feelings. The use of clay encourages self-discovery and adds to sensory stimulation. It can be an outlet for frustration and improves motor skills. You can tell a lot about people by the way the use their hands and how they explore new limits and experience success or failure. The use of the potter’s wheel in particular requires one to be focused, patient, decisive, delicate and fearless. We teach how to gain these attributes and many take the learning and apply it to not only their pottery work but also to their everyday lives.
