There are various different errors but the most common is the Red Ring of Death (RROD). This can't simply be fixed permanently with a towel, a heat gun, or some other home remedy. To sum it up, heat build up causes most of the errors that you get on the consoles. The board is heated up and then cooled down when turned off, making the board flex which either bridges a solder connection or breaks a connection some where on the board.
