-January 1, 2010 - Atlanta - Ryan Taylor is already well known in the Atlanta construction industry for his attention to design and functionality and now his work is garnering its own attention in the media, being featured on HGTV’s new series “Curb Appeal: the block.” The new series travels to Atlanta where with every major makeover, the nearby homes and their yards receive smaller-scale makeovers that create instant impact and increase the value of the entire block.
Taylor, who appears in several episodes of the new series, worked in tandem with designer and host, John Gidding and contractor and master carpenter, Chip Wade. “ Working with John and Chip was very inspiring. The designs were very detailed and I loved the challenge of working with Chip to turn John’s creative concepts into reality,” said Taylor of his experience on the show. The designs weren’t Taylor’s only challenge. Most of the make-overs had to be completed within a 7-14 day period. “ The time constraints was certainly one of my biggest challenges, as well as the many clients I had to communicate with. In one episode I had to please not only the homeowner, but their insurance company, the producers, the designers, the TV crew and a roofing company.” said Taylor.
The homeowners in that episode, Jennifer Gibson, Nick Salpekar and their two young children were certainly pleased with the whole experience. “I was so afraid that the show was going to use a contractor that would simply throw up some paint on the front of the houses and then call it a day.” said Gibson. “I was relieved after witnessing Ryan and his crew were the real deal.” The family had seen only a simple sketch of what their home would look like upon completion and were asked to sign it before work could begin. “It was pretty scary when the producers hand you a single sheet of paper with only a sketch of what will be happening to your home. Ryan and the crew not only made me comfortable with what was happening but magically transformed my home into that exact sketch I signed just days earlier. She continued, “ No quality of work was spared and the finished product was beyond my expectations. Six months have now passed and the work is still as beautiful as it was when they finished.” You can see the makeover for yourself when the episode airs January 3rd at 8:30pm e/p.
Taylor, who was recently named Director of Environmental Design for TMG’s Environmental Design and Construction Firm, answered the call for TMG’s innovative clients looking for a different kind of construction company. “His extensive and diverse experience within the high design building industry made him the perfect choice to oversee our new offering,” says Lydia Anderson, CEO of TMG. She continued, “We are very proud of his accomplishments and the entire team can’t wait to tune into the show. His addition to our team is a perfect start for what is sure to be a great new year.”
