BKP Books (part of Big Kahuna Ventures LLC) has released the first in its e-Tales series, "And the Grass Rose Up," an ebook by author Robert A. Sheffield. The book is a chilling story about an overstressed IT worker who is fired for political reasons. He snaps and decides to take revenge on the corporate executives who barely even know who he is.
BKP Books has unveiled it's new e-Tales series as an affordable way to deliver first rate content to ebook readers. Priced far below the traditional first-run titles, BKP Books plans to sell all of the e-Tales at $1 per copy.
Ebooks are books that can be downloaded and read on portable devices such as the Kindle or the Sony Reader, or read on a personal computer.
"And The Grass Rose Up" can be found at

BKP (Big Kahuna Publishing) is a small publishing house that focuses primarily on local markets and emerging authors. We don’t charge reading fees or any of that craziness, but we also aren’t a “vanity press” or self publishing model (although we sometimes use POD – Print On Demand – for some of our smaller titles). Advances are negotiated with the author or author’s agent, and we take a percentage of the profits the book makes – as does the author. Standard business practice in publishing, just on a smaller scale.
How do we make it work? The big publishing houses have enormous overhead and focus on the blockbusters. They can’t afford to invest in smaller or local works. If it doesn’t pull in a few million dollars, it isn’t worth their time.
We’re not as big, so we can get by on less. We can afford to take chances.
