It was a decade started in anticipation with the 2000 Y2K scare, tattooed by an indelible mark (September 11th), and worn out by the time that 2010 rolled around.
That decade may be summed up in by literary character Katlin Hillmacher, whose birthday is January 1st.
"He had such promise, yet he was seared by what happened to him, and things ended for him like a worn out comet," Doug Shiloh, author of "Pookoo" said. "Katlin was a sports star, with a blond wife, many girlfriends and lost sponsorship. "
Hillmacher's legacy lives on in our fascination of celebrity and the author doesn't see it going away in the new year.
"Even if it's just the 'car wreck of the week', we'll want to watch," Shiloh said. "Things such as Reality TV, sports and a surging Internet presence will contribute to our voyeurism."
Shiloh has commented on Twitter that a sequel is in the works. he is currently working on a post 9-11 novel. Visit http://911novel.com for more info.
