The Green Process Management (GPM) Framework was unveiled on the Sustainability Information Day at the Object Management Group’s Annual Technical Meeting. The founder of GPM and the Group Executive Director of the GPM Institute, Mr. Saiful Nasir, and Director (Asia Pacific Region) of the GPM Institute, Mr. David Chong, both of Melbourne, Australia, presented their approach to ‘achieving organizational and environmental sustainability through business process management’ before a select group of industry leaders. Other presenters on the program included CIOZone, Hara Software, CA, Raytheon, and Wilton Consulting Group.
“We are delighted to introduce the Green Process Management Framework to the industry, “ remarks Dr. Harsh Sharma, Chair of the Sustainabilty Interest Group, the event sponsor. “This team of passionate and visionary business process professionals brings a welcome approach to business sustainability. Object Management Group looks forward to a strong and lasting relationship with the GPM Institute.”
The Green Process Management Institute, founded in 2009, is a non-profit organization with global headquarters in Melbourne, Australia. Mr. Nasir predicts GPM to be the next evolution in Business Process Management as it broadens its focus to include the connections between business processes and the environment. The GPM Framework provides the tools for organizations to assess and mitigate the impacts of their business processes on the environment.
“This meeting brought together passionate individuals with ideas on sustainability, evolved these ideas into conversations, and paved a way for IT to lead the sustainability movement for organizations around the world.” says Mr. Nasir. “It is an exciting time for environmental sustainability and a great step for green IT”.
In a series of forthcoming whitepapers, the GPM Institute will present its framework to business leaders, service providers and academic interests. They will also issue a call to action for case study volunteer organizations, body of knowledge contributors, and scholarly researchers.
