BharatMatrimony, India’s most successful matrimonial brand, today announced the results of its online and video poll on “India’s most eligible celebrities –Men & Women in India, 2009”. The polls featured well-known personalities from different walks of life including politics, sports, films, fashion and entertainment.
Rahul Gandhi the dashing Congress Leader emerged as the most eligible bachelor in the polls by bagging around 30 per cent of the total votes polled. Akanksha who had voted for Rahul Gandhi in the video poll said, "Rahul is the most eligible because he is learned, done a lot for the country and knows what the youth want." Around 21,200 people participated and voted in the year-end poll. At the 2nd spot was India’s cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni (21.1%). Actor Shahid Kapoor bagged 13% and stood at the 3rd position. John Abraham was at no 4 (10.7%) behind Shahid.
In the women’s category, the top slots were taken by Bollywood divas. At No 1 was Katrina Kaif (27.5%) followed by Vidya Balan (22.7%) and at the 3rd spot was Priyanka Chopra (18.7%). Deepika Padukone was at rank 4 (13.3%). Karan who took part in the video poll said: "Katrina Kaif has a great personality, she's beautiful, well-read and she had demonstrated her acting abilities in her recent movie Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani".
