Most of us don’t know the difference between a call centre and a BPO company.
A business Process Outsourcing (BPO) organization is one that performs a business process or a part of a process of another business organization;
A call centre, on the contrary, performs only a part of a client's business which involves efficient handling of telephone queries, e customer complaints coming in over a telephone.
I would say, the BPO sector is a more creative field than the simple call centre job. When answering calls and attending queries can be mechanical, doing a business process is not cake walk. One needs to have a good amount of concentration, knowledge of English language, an innovative mind to accept the changing business trends and technology, and obviously, a bulk of common sense.
India, with its great skilled manpower resources, is now waking up to a new dawn of technological advances and novel business insights. Though it is so typical of an Indian to desert a long-used concept and accept something fresh and new, we are slowly coming out of the old ‘call centre’ concept.
The creative and profitable business pastures BPO offers are of great demand now. Needless to say, the possibilities offered by the BPO industry to the literate Indian youth are immense.
Well, managing a BPO company is not as simple as you think! The jobs which are handled here are as diverse from simple data entry to medical transcription, complex structural designing in engineering to video & audio tagging and every day back office services to research-oriented knowledge process outsourcing.
Let us all hope for a better India when every one is employed and contended and the only ray of hope at the present is the thriving BPO industry.
