IALive.tv covers the ARTISTS "CHEAP TRICK" Rick Nielsen's Tribute to Les Paul

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec. 29, 2009 - CHEAP TRICK’S celebrate their 35th anniversary together.  Following a solo guitar rendition of the national anthem to kick-off the game by Orianthi, the luminary guitarist who stars in Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” movie and who herself has a current hit song entitled “According To You." A halftime performance by CHEAP TRICK’S Rick Nielsen who was joined by Brian Ray of the Paul McCartney band and Orianthi herself for a Gibson Guitar Tribute to Les Paul.  The Gibson Guitar Tribute was an idea conceived by its musical director, Brian Ray that will also feature 100 guest youth guitarists.

CHEAP TRICK may be one of the most covered bands of all time. Since the 70's they’ve been blending elements of pop, punk and even metal in a way that is instantly catchy and recognizable. With timeless classics such as “I Want You to Want Me,” “Surrender,” and the late 80's lighter-waving favorite, “The Flame,” CHEAP TRICK are a musical institution. With more than 5,000 performances, 29 movie soundtracks and 40 gold and platinum recording awards.

IALive got there just in time to watch a great tribute to the late Les Paul the inventor of solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible". He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing, known as sound on sound, delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording. Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Named by the music museum as an "architect" and a "key inductee" along with Sam Phillips and Alan Freed.
