Everblue Training Institute announced that it will launch its Yellow Ribbon Program on January 1, 2010. The program will offer two seats in all LEED Green Associate exam prep courses nationwide for veterans that have served in Iraq or Afghanistan since September 11, 2001.

Everblue’s course is currently offered in more than 80 cities in the US and internationally, including New York, Los Angeles, Dubai and Hong Kong.

All eligible veterans should fax or email their contact information along with a copy of their DD214 discharge paperwork showing that they have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan since September 11, 2001.

Everblue will take care of the rest, including scheduling and the cost of the course, which is valued at $645 per student.  Veterans are responsible for exam fees, which are covered by GI Bill benefits.  VA counselors are encouraged to contact Everblue on behalf of veterans they are working with.

Currently there are 185,000 veterans of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who are unemployed. “These statistics are unacceptable,” said Chris Boggiano, a principal of Everblue. “Although 11% of the U.S. population is made up of veterans, they make up 25% of the homeless population.”

Everblue Training Institute is founded by veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who believe that energy independence, the future vitality of America, the fight against global warming and their connection to one another are all inextricably tied together.

“It is our intent to show America’s heroes that their sacrifices have not been forgotten,” Boggiano said. “This training can help jumpstart green careers, get America moving down the path toward energy independence and give our veterans an opportunity to continue serving the country they love.”

This pilot version of Everblue’s Yellow Ribbon Program will end on March 31, 2010.  Eventually, the company hopes to expand the program to all of their green training courses including weatherization, energy auditing and LEED Accredited Professional training.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is the country's most recognized seal of approval for environmental design and green building certification. The Everblue Training Institute is the largest USGBC portfolio provider.
