What happening?
The Redskins and Cowboys used to comprise one of the NFL's top rivalries. The days of their games meaning much to the rest of the league are over, but they still mean something to the respective fan bases, especially in Washington. All Redskins fans have left now is a chance to potentially ruin Dallas' playoff hopes.
Though the Cowboys have a one-game lead over the Giants for the NFC's last playoff spot, the Giants swept their two meetings. So Dallas can't afford a slipup. The Cowboys escaped with a 7-6 win in the first meeting with Washington.
While Dallas has a playoff shot, the Redskins are in their final two games of the Jim Zorn era. If there was any lingering doubt about his fate -- and there really wasn't -- it was erased with the 33-point loss to the New York Giants.
Both teams have good young pass-rushing linebackers/
Also, the Redskins cut kicker Shaun Suisham after a 23-yard miss cost them a chance to upset New Orleans. But Suisham signed with Dallas after its kicker, Nick Folk, missed a 24-yarder against the Saints. And Redskins safety LaRon Landry said Dallas receiver Roy Williams was afraid to go over the middle against them in the first game. Surely those words won't be forgotten.
