Varsity Tutors continues its mission of offering a wide range of tutoring services with its ISAT, PSAT, and ACT test prep programs. The company’s tutors are rigorously screened for communication skills, academic records, and test scores.
Illinois State Achievement Test (ISAT) tutoring
The ISAT is given once a year in early March to all Illinois public schools in grades 3 through 8. The test is administered over a period of one or two weeks, depending on the choice of each individual school. Students are tested on reading comprehension, mathematics, and writing skills. In 4th and 7th grade, students are also tested on science content.
The test is a combination of multiple choice, short answer (math), extended response (math) and extended response (writing). Students’ scores help schools and parents to measure individual progress and the progress of the school population as a whole. For 7th grade students in the City of Chicago who are interested in applying to selective enrollment high schools, it is important to note that 7th grade ISAT scores count for 30% of the selection criteria.
PSAT tutoring
The PSAT, also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), provides practice for the SAT, as well as qualifies students for college scholarships. Juniors in high school who score well on the PSAT are recognized as National Merit Finalists and awarded with prestigious college scholarships. Varsity Tutors helps students reach their highest potential on the PSAT exam in the comfort of your own home or another location of your choice. Unlike the SAT, Juniors may only take the PSAT one time, making preparation that much more important.
