What happening?

There's no question: The Dolphins and Texans have made it tough on themselves when it comes to sneaking into the playoffs, but neither team is out of it yet. In fact, they have similar situations, both hopeing to see a few AFC teams (like the Ravens and the Broncos) lose at least one of their final games.

Miami has a better shot than Houston, but when it comes to the motivation on Sunday, both teams will know a win keeps them alive -- while a loss, for all intents and purposes, puts an end to their seasons. ...

Beyond the playoff implications, the Texans have a pretty alluring reason to continue winning. If they can snag a couple victories in the final games, they'll have put together the first winning record in the team's history, which began in 2002.

Crazy enough, from a historical standpoint, the Texans must feel pretty good about their next opponent. Of the four matchups between these teams, Houston has won every time. One catch for the Texans: This will mark the first time these teams play in South Florida. ...

The Dolphins are not giving up on their season. They aren't bidding farewell to their playoff hopes simply because it will be a difficult path. So they aren't interested in treating the last two games as nothing more than a developmental period for their young players.

That said, the Dolphins still want to see signs from those youngsters -- specifically quarterback Chad Henne -- that they've got what it takes to get the job done in the future. So no, Miami doesn't want to sacrifice games in the name of development. But yes, they'd like to see reason for hope along the way.
