What happening?
Time's up: The Bengals are one victory away from winning the AFC North title, and this game marks their best opportunity to capture the division because they're home against the Chiefs. Two straight road losses (Minnesota and San Diego) delayed the celebration for the Bengals, who once had a three-game lead with four to go. Cincinnati's urgency to win has never been greater because time is running out. The Bengals control their destiny, but they don't want to be in a position where they're forced to win at the New York Jets on Jan. 3.
Spoiler's role: It's Cincinnati's regular season home finale, and the Chiefs would like nothing more than to spoil the Bengals' party by pulling off the upset. KC proved it could score in a shootout loss to Cleveland, but the Chiefs' run defense and kick coverage imploded as Jerome Harrison rushed for 286 yards and Joshua Cribbs returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. Look for the Chiefs to get creative on offense and pull out all the stops in an attempt to play the spoiler's role.
Emotional game: The Dec. 17 death of WR Chris Henry has been devastating for the Bengals, who traveled to New Orleans on a team charter on Dec. 22 to bury their teammate. The Bengals can win the division and secure a home-field wild card playoff game with a Pittsburgh victory over Baltimore, but the Bengals want to honor Henry with a win. A triumph would mark Cincinnati's second postseason berth in 19 years, and its first since claiming the division title in 2005.
