VATSIM is a Virtual Airline Flight Simulation Network that allows virtual airline pilots to fly online. VATSIM also has online ATC Air Traffic Control for pilots in most countries in the world. You can join a VATSIM virtual airline by selecting one from the list on the right side of this web site. In order to fly on the VATSIM Network you must go to the VATSIM website to register for a membership. If you do not want to fly on the VATSIM Network you can still join a SimMiles virtual airline and fly on the SimMiles network. When you have a pilot ID with one of the SimMiles virtual airlines you can automatically use that to access the SimMiles network.
VATSIM has many events that they do online for pilots. VATSIM Also has air traffic controller training if you are interested in becoming an virtual air traffic controller on the VATSIM network. There are always new events taking place on the VATSIM network that you can participate in as a pilot or controller. VATSIM is an excellent place for pilots and virtual airlines to get started because they allow you to use the network and it’s resources for free. Then once you have gained some virtual airline experience you can start a SimMiles virtual airline or become a pilot for a SimMiles virtual airline. Once you are on the SimMiles Network there are not the training resources that are available on the VATSIM Network therefore we usually recommend that pilots start on the VATSIM Network to take advange of these resources. Some of the SimMiles virtual airlines have pilot resource and training centres but for the other virtual airlines, pilots are usually asked to start their flying the VATSIM network that does not require any kind of high standards for it’s controllers or pilots. This makes VATSIM a an easy place for pilots to learn to fly before they should come to the SimMiles network where VATSIM support is not available.
