Bestselling Author Coordinates 2nd Annual National Teen Writing Contest

Michelle Stimpson, a national bestselling author and educator, encourages teens to spend this winter break productively!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Dec 23, 2009 -
While many teens will spend the holiday break vegetating, bestselling fiction author and educator Michelle Stimpson hopes that some will use the time more constructively. Stimpson will oversee the second annual “Holiday Break Short Story Writing Contest”, open from December 19, 2009 – January 16, 2010.  “We’re searching for the best teen writers across the country,” Stimpson challenges. “No excuses – school’s out. Just write!”

The contest, sponsored by independent educational publisher Right Track Academic Support Services, LLC, is open to teens ages 13–19 enrolled in grades 9-12. Entries must be original, unpublished works between 1250 - 1500 words. Winners will receive Visa® gift cards and have their entries posted online at www.wegottaread.com alongside other free resources for secondary teachers.

The monetary prize demonstrates the contest organizer’s belief that students should be exposed to a variety of well-paying career options. Stimpson encourages teens from her own experience as an entrepreneur who combines her gift of writing with her background as a classroom teacher. “I want kids to understand that you don’t have to sing or dance or play a sport to get paid. If you love reading and writing, there are lots of opportunities for you to pursue your passion professionally.”
