Chamber Music Society of Detroit Presents the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet

Returning by popular demand, the Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet will perform on January 30. That evening, the Chamber Music Society of Detroit will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its performances at Seligman Performing Arts Center.

Unique Features of this Concert/Story Line:
•   Four of the Quintet’s original members are still performing with the ensemble since its inception in 1988; Marion Reinhard recently succeeded founding bassoonist Henning Trog in 2009.
•   The Berlin Philharmonic Wind Quintet made its debut on the Chamber Music Society of Detroit series in 2007 and returns only two seasons later by popular demand.
•   Samuel Barber’s Summer Music was commissioned by the Chamber Music Society of Detroit and received its world premiere on the series in 1953.  2010 marks Samuel Barber’s centenary.
•   Pre-Concert Dinner: Bacco Ristorante, with special reduced dinner price for CMSD ticket-holders, 5:00 – 6:15 PM.
•   Pre-Concert Presentation:  The Chamber Music Society of Detroit will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its performances at Seligman Performing Arts Center with a brief pre-concert slide presentation. The Chamber Music Society presented the inaugural opening event (Orpheus Chamber Orchestra) at Seligman Performing Arts Center on November 13, 1999.
