Dec. 21, 2009 - PRLog -- Houston, TX - A Better Tripp celebrated a milestone this holiday season:  seven years of service in support of Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is an annual event sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a charity devoted to helping less fortunate children.  Collecting gift-wrapped shoeboxes filled with toys, candy, school supplies, and personal hygiene items, Operation Christmas Child delivers the gifts to needy kids in over 120 countries.

Windwood Presbyterian Church in Houston, Texas, was once again a major collection site for Operation Christmas Child.  For the past six years, David Tripp, owner of A Better Tripp, has donated one of his company’s full-service moving trucks to help collect donations at Windwood Presbyterian.  But this year, Tripp decided to dig deeper:

“In the past we’ve provided 24-foot trucks.  Last year it was a 28-foot truck.  This year we donated a 48-foot tractor trailer, twice the size of our regular truck, to help out the cause,” says Tripp.

For one week, from November 16th to the 23rd, A Better Tripp’s tractor-trailer was parked outside the Windwood Presbyterian Church building.  All in all, the event was a success:  Operation Christmas Child collected more than 4200 shoeboxes filled with presents for girls and boys across the nation.

“In the past, donations have filled up the smaller trucks pretty well.  This year, we decided to put out a larger truck in hopes that the community would increase their contributions – and they did,” says Tripp.

But that’s not all – Operation Christmas Child had to direct more than 750 shoeboxes to other collection sites after Monday, November 23rd.  That’s makes a grand total of 5,000 boxes – one big truckload of Christmas joy for kids across the world.
