Place to stay in Mimosa Clark Philippines - Yats Hotel and Resorts Clark Freeport Philippines

Dec. 20, 2009 - PRLog -- Mimosa Leisure Estate captured the imagination of Asian Tourists in the 80s and 90s but fell from grace after government took over its management.  New life emerges recently with investments from HK-based Yats Leisure.
 
Mimosa Leisure Estate was the darling of not only Filipino tourist and casinos players but also tourists from all over Asia and major cities around the world.  Its 36-hole golf course benefited from the appearance of Tiger Woods and its casinos lit up by dancers brought in from Russia.

All that went into a sad state of disrepair caused by poor management for government agency Clark Development Corporation or C D C.  For over a decade, this jewel has become tarnished and rusty, losing almost all the attention that its previous owners managed to garner from well-heeled gamblers and pleasure seekers from all over Asia.

New life began to surface with new investors coming into play.  Among them is HongKong-based Yats International, a developer and operator of properties in the hospitality and residential sectors.  

Yats Clearwater Resort & Country Club located in Clark Freeport Philippines.  There is a white-sand beach, man-made, with an adjoining swimming lagoon, overlooking the large 3ha lake.  Across the lake is a wooded area called Frolic Garden where we found a croquet garden, swings and hammocks and a couple of horse-shoe throwing grounds.

From there one can see the amphi-theatre that again overlooks the lake with the stage actually setting over water.  This venue looks ideal for small concerts, plays and other entertainment for a small capacity of about 150.

Evidently, many weddings took place in Yats Clearwater Resort and it is not difficult to see why.  This place smacks of romance.  It is probably even better for a honeymoon.  There is this row of 8 log cabins sitting right by the edge of the lake with a verandah over water.  It was really something else to wake up and walk out to a view of an idyllic lake at dawn.  Occassionally, special arrangements can be made for breakfast to be served on the verandah.  That would be quite magical.  

It is a fairly large place so guests need to be ready for a bit of walking, although golf carts can be rented to get around.  To some, that defeats the purpose of spending time in a park.  But one could rent bikes to paddle around and that would be a nice experience.

Rooms are basic, furniture a little sparse compared to resort hotels.  One could characterize the lodgings to be in the class of bed-and-breakfast and not resort-class.

There is a cafe which serves good breakfast and basic lunch and dinner.  Foodies can opt to drive over to Mimosa about 3 minutes away just a bit too far to walk, to have dinner at the fine-dining Yats Restaurant and Wine Bar http://www.YatsRestaurant.com .  This restaurant is 5-star, better than anything in the Philippines.  The wine list is mind-blowing.  Prices are surprisingly affordable.
