Nuux Home Screen
Nuux, a new mobile social network dedicated to real-time social nightlife information is launching today. With Nuux people can check-in to events and locations, see live where friends are partying and how they like it and all is connected to the Facebook stream. Nuux is based out of Zug, Switzerland and is a product of Flexbit.
Nuux is the first of its kind to make real-information on parties, clubs, bars, and generally events easy available in form of a mobile application for everyone. The mobile application is currently available for all Java enabled Phones including Nokia, SonyEricsson, Samsung, LG, Motorola - as well as on Windows Mobile. Nuux is tightly integrated into Facebook, so users can just start off by connecting their Facebook accounts to Nuux (no friend building required, just use the Facebook friend network).
Some of the more interesting features of Nuux are that they have venues and events from basically all US, Europe and Australia. So it is possible to use one app for all your travels and get the insider information from a foreign city right away. So it is actually possible to answer the questions:

The home screen of their mobile application resembles a bit the iPhone home screen. Here users have the choice of 7 different areas: Messaging/News Feed, Events, Venues, Search, Profile, Friends, Map, and Help. One of the features of Nuux is location sharing. Users can choose to display their location to selected people or not. Besides such an automatic location sharing, there is the concept of proactively broadcasting your location via "check-ins". Check-ins are a way of telling your friends and generally everyone on Nuux where you are. People can then see who is checked-in at which location/event and who of them their friends are. Besides check-ins users can rate, tag and comment on events and locations and upload and share pictures for those. With this information Nuux generates a friend-network specific ranking of venues and events. This means that similar to check-ins where you see who of your friends is where, with ratings and tags users also always see what their friends are saying, and what everyone is saying. So instead of just having a general rating of e.g. 4.5 for "Bar GrandX" you get e.g 4.5 (all), 2(friends) for "Bar GrandX" - giving you an idea that overall people liked the bar, but your friends did not. The same goes for tags: users see, how many of their friends voted "good atmosphere" versus the overall voting count for "good atmosphere": there you go: trusted recommendations, where it really counts.
All activities (ratings, check-ins, comments, etc.) of users on Nuux are translated into a real-time News Feed. This News Feed can be checked from the News-Feed/Messaging menu on the Nuux client. This gives you an indication of what is going on right now in your city.
