Bo Kauffmann of Remax Performance Realty in Winnipeg reports a strong finish to 2009 in Winnipeg's Real Estate Market. According to statistics compiled by Winnipeg REALTORS®, December 2009 ended up being the strongest in 106 years.
"A very strong December market helped finish off 2009 in a strong, positive way. For the first time in 106 years, sales in a December rose above 600 and dollar volume went over $100 million for the month.
The average sale price was close to $220,000 and the average ‘days on market’ was 35 days, which was one week faster than 2008.
This helped the year end off with 2% higher dollar volume than 2008. Winnipeg REALTORS® report total sales of just shy of $2.5 billion. This also makes 3 years in a row where sales have totaled above the $2 billion mark.
