If there's one thing that kids and parents agree on, it's that San Diego is an exciting place to have their first pre-college experience. Students in the UCSD Academic Connections program enjoy privileged access to the university's resources - sharing the same hallways, labs and classrooms as UCSD's Nobel Laureates.

The UC San Diego Academic Connections Research Scholars program seeks to infuse this approach into young gifted students by pairing them with our world renowned faculty in the Division of Chemistry and Biochemisitry lab setting. The Chair of program is Professor Elizabeth Komives who piloted the program last year with one student. Professor Komives's research area  includes: Structure, function, dynamics and thermodynamics of protein-protein interactions: NMR, mass spectrometry and kinetics.

UC San Diego is ranked among the top research institutions in the world due to the innovative spirit, our top-notch faculty, and their interdisciplinary fields of research. Our faculty members focus on “Discovery Research” which seeks to go where research has not gone before leading to new innovations and moving knowledge into a new dimension.
