Dec. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- Newbury Park, CA  - As the judges surveyed the finalists for the Fastframe National Kids Art Contest, Pat Johnson, who serves on the Conejo Valley Art Council, exclaimed, “This isn’t going to be easy, they’re all so good.”  The contest invited children ages 6-10 to submit their version of the theme, My Favorite Place, to local Fastframe stores.  Each store judged the entries locally and sent their first place winner to the corporate office to be judged in the national contest.  Over 500 entries were received in the participating stores around the country for the first annual contest.
The panel of judges carefully reviewed each piece making notes and conversation along the way about the style and creativity.  The final selection of two equally impressed all of the judges so they unanimously, and happily, decided to declare a tie.  The winners are Chloe Allen, a seven year old from Charlotte, NC and Haley Celusniak, a ten year old from Austin, TX.  Being near the water was a big theme for many of the entries including both of the national winners.  Chloe drew a self portrait on the beach.  The judges loved the bathing suit design, the carefree look Chloe depicted on her face and the bold colors she used throughout the picture.  Haley created a portrait of her dog, Wags, kayaking in Town Lake, an area in Austin known for its outdoor activity.  Artist James Coleman, one of the national judges, commented on the drawing of the dog several times during the evening, giving an indication that this was one of his favorites.
Each young lady will receive a $250 American Express Gift Card, with an additional $250 gift card for their schools.  In addition, the winning pieces will be custom framed, courtesy of Fastframe and Nielsen Bainbridge, and displayed on the home page of the corporate website for the months of January and February 2010.  The remainder of the entries will be sent back to each store to be custom framed and then returned to the artists.   Fastframe plans to continue the contest again next year, giving another age group the opportunity to showcase their talents.
