Dec. 17, 2009 - PRLog -- The historic Arcade building is celebrating its 85th birthday on January 7, 2010.  During that day there will be a number of events designed to move the business community in and around the Arcade building into the 21st century.  The lunch event will feature local internet marketing guru and business author Randy Kirk speaking about how local internet marketing is a big game changer for all local businesses.

Starting in November 2010, searches for a local barbershop or Mexican Restaurant through Google are Geocentric.  This means that Google knows where you are and will give you search results based on the neighborhood you are in, unless you specify otherwise.  This means that if you are not highly ranked on Google, your potential client will find your competitor who is highly ranked faster and easier than ever.  And not only will they find the highly ranked shop faster on their computer, but also on their smart phone or Ipod.

"The Yellow Pages and other local hard copy directories are mostly door stops and fire starters now," says Kirk.  "People are finding products and services on line.  The rules for being highly visible online are changing almost weekly, but there are some pretty important things you can do to stay ahead of the pack."

The talk will focus on tools like Google Maps Local Business Center, Yelp, Hot Frog, YouTube, and E-Mail blasts.  Kirk continues, "The big corporations are saying that in 2010 the two most important and cost effective ways to reach consumers will be E-Mail and YouTube.  It is so cheap and so easy, but most small businesses haven't even started the process."
This lunch starts at 12:00.  For reservations go to tinyurl.com/ycc7a26

Also on the program at the Arcade that day will be Joseph Darrell, owner of Film Friendly Locations.  He'll help local property owners with information on how to get their home, business or other property used as a movie location for fun and profit.  This will be at 10:00 a.m.

In the evening the Arcade will host a birthday cake cutting that will usher in an evening for the business community to network and learn about networking online.  Rex Freiberger of Highly Relevant will speak about Twitter and Blogging and other ways to connect with suppliers and clients online.  This starts at 5:00

The Arcade Building is one of the most beautiful office buildings in Los Angeles. Currently housing various upscale retail and office tenants, the building was restored in 1986, and is this year celebrating 85 years of history. First built as a home in 1924, the original home was raised and became the penthouse of what is now a three story building.

The Arcade is a familiar star of films, television, and commercials. The facade and breezeway are both elegant and easily transformed to create many different looks. Space is currently available for both retail and office use.
