The commercial vehicle sales sector in Ireland has seen a dramatic decline in 2009. With vehicle sales volumes down as much as 85% in the LGV ( Light Goods Vehicles) sector it is of little suprise that Mitsubishi Fuso trucks are delighted to be awarded the contract to supply 16 of its Fuso 3c13 models to online truck hire company Vanrentals.ie.
The Mitsubishi Fuso Models have always held a large market share in the Irish commercial transport sector. Mitsubishi trucks gained a foothold in the early 1980's and have built up a dealer network of 13 agents supplying their products in Ireland. Dublins sole agent Murphys Trucks secured the deal for the new vehicles. Acoording to Seamus O Grady, sales manager for Murphys "The fuso is the idea truck for hire applications, it comes with a comprehensive 3 year warranty, has a intuitive control layout and first time hire customers will find the units very easy to drive".
The Fuso trucks which are being supplies fall into the category "B" licence band in Ireland. This means that they can be driven on a standard car licence. This makes a lot of sense to the hire operator as Micheal Shanahan Sales Manager of Vanrentals.ie can attest " The licence category really matters, this really opens up the market for these vehicles, we expect to see many house movers driving these vehicles themselves, its important in the current economic climate here as many peoplle really cannot afford the cost of hiring movers".
Of the 16 trucks ordered, 10 will be box unit trucks for moving and 6 will be light construction tippers. According to Micheal "What sealed the deal was the vareity of wheelbases which mitsubishi can supply, 4 different chassis lengths on the car licence class meant we can use one model of truck for a variety of applications"
These new Fuso units will increase http://Vanrentals.ie stock of Fuso hire vehicles to 47 light units.
