Turkey or Goose? One mince pie or two? Brandy butter or rum sauce? For many backpackers on a GAP year abroad these are not dilemmas that have to be dealt with this year.
Good or bad? Certainly the festive season is a time to spend eating with family but this really only applies to Christmas Day and possibly Boxing Day. Although being in Australia means leaving many English traditions behind there are plenty of Australian ones to embrace.
For a Brit there is something odd about spending Christmas Day on an Australian beach in a pair of Bermuda shorts with the sun beating down. Tucking into a lunchtime roast does not have the same allure in temperatures of 30+ degrees!
